Award for Children’s Choir
In July 2006, Taplow Children’s Choir sang at the Final of the National Festival of Music for Youth (Junior Choral Category) and won the Outstanding Award. They competed against 21 other choirs from around the UK. They reached the final again in 2009 and sung in the Symphony Hall, Birmingham.
In November 2008 the choir were filmed for transmission as part of the BBC2 series ‘The Choir‘. Choirmaster Gareth Malone brought his new children’s choir from South Oxley to Taplow Court, as he wanted them to hear and work with our established Taplow Children’s Choir.
In March 2009, the Children’s Choir took part in a Festival of Choirs at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts, Maidenhead, and a group from the choir also made recordings for the national ‘Sing Up!’ campaign.
In 2022, for the Platinum Jubilee, a group of our members sang the children’s choir role in the UK premiere of a work by Cecilia MacDowall in St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. It was a great privilege to be chosen for this prestigious concert with four local adult choirs. They also joined in Walton’s arrangement of the National Anthem and ‘We’ll Meet Again‘ accompanied by the Orpheus Orchestra.
