Welcome to Taplow Choirs

We are the
Centre for Singing Excellence

Taplow Choirs was set up in September 2004 by Gillian Dibden and Philip Viveash to establish a centre for local singers and bring together children and adults interested in building their singing skills.

The aim: to create a structure of various choirs for all ages, who rehearse together towards performance, providing a centre for singing excellence in the area.

Taplow Choirs offers four regular groups:

Taplow Children's Choir in rehearsal

for children in school Year 3 and upwards.

for boys in school Year 5 and upwards.

for girls in school Year 5 – Year 10.

Entry by audition.

for girls in school Year 11 upwards; and for boys with changing voices (Year 9 upwards).

Entry by audition.

Based in the village of Taplow in South Bucks, close to Maidenhead, Slough, and Windsor, and easily accessible from the South Bucks and Berkshire areas. It is not far from junction 7 of the M4, and up the road from the mainline station at Taplow. Taplow is also easily accessible from the M40.

Facilities for practice and performance exist in Taplow – at the Village Centre, and the church – although the choirs also go further afield to give concerts.

On this site, you can the track record of the choirs as well as biographies of director Gillian Dibden and choir leader Ben de Souza.

We are always delighted to hear from our former members who go on to pursue careers or further education in music. Here, we showcase recent solo recordings by our alumni.

"What makes Taplow Choirs so special is the quality of the music and the friendships you make. Ten years after joining, I still regularly listen to pieces I first sang with Taplow, and remain in touch with the friends I made."

Taplow Youth Choir member, 2010–2012
